OEM Chose Repair Over Replacement: PC800 Servo Drives

Repair or Replacement? An OEM that manufactures pet vaccination machinery got a real shot in the arm when they turned to Motor Systems Inc. for help in repairing 22 Pacific Scientific PC800 servo drives.

It was all the result of an OEM program that swapped out new PC800 Drives whenever their customers experienced problems with the original equipment. Unfortunately, Pacific Scientific’s delisting of the PC800 series left the OEM with a dwindling reserve of new drives available for exchange. At the same time, they were amassing a sizeable inventory of used drives in need of repair.

Cut off from acquiring new PC800s, the OEM faced the costly and potentially challenging prospect of having to source a new line of replacement drives.

You can imagine their relief when Motor Systems offered an easier and significantly less expensive option.

As Pacific Scientific’s only authorized repair center, Motor Systems rebuilt and did some preventative maintenance on all of the used servo drives. PC board schematics and a complete parts inventory helped ensure that the units were performing back to their original factory specs.

The OEM now has a full inventory of gleaming, like-new drives that are now ready to help keep their customers moving along.

You could say it’s something to howl about.
